Thanks for stopping by my website. My name is Lisa Warren. Some of you may know me as Betty. My girls gave me this nick name about a year ago, and it’s kinda stuck! I’m 30 years old, and I’m a junk food addict. I’ve never been a fitness fan, and the thought of getting sweaty used to give me the fear! I’ve been overweight most of my adult life (due to my junk food addiction), and I have been on numerous “diets”. However, I was fast approaching my 30th birthday, my weight creeped back up to almost 11stone (again), and I still had a “jelly belly” even though my kids were 9 and 7! I was sick of comparing myself to others too, and feeling sorry for myself. I realised that I was going to have to make changes to my diet that would last a lifetime, this time instead of “dieting” I would make lifestyle changes. In the last year I’ve lost 30lbs and I’m on a journey to get a six pack. You can see my progress in the before and after gallery.
SIX PACK AFTER KIDS AND C-SECTION?
I also knew that nutrition alone was not going to get me the figure I so dreamed of. I’ve had two kids, and Holly was delivered by c-section, I was determined that no matter what I was going to get a nice toned stomach. I started doing more research on the internet, and that’s where I came across an interview with Tom Ventuto. This gave me such hope that yes, I could get a six pack, even after kids and a c section.
FIND AN EXERCISE YOU ENJOY DOING!
As a kid I hated exercise, sports day, P.E. I wanted out of it! I liked sitting on my bum and doing as little as possible. I also knew I didn’t want to be skinny fat, and if all I did was diet, that is how I would end up. Through Tom Venuto and Craig Ballantyne I knew weight training would encompass the bulk of my training. I absolutely love lifting weights, it makes me feel strong and powerful, and that’s a good feeling
. I also discovered a love for running, and right now I can’t wait til Spring time so it’s a bit warmer so I get outdoors. (I don’t do cold weather running – the point is to enjoy it, and in the cold there is no chance of that!). I did my first 10K in May this year, and my 3rd one in September. Getting your medal as you cross the line is the best feeling ever, and going into 2011, my first 10K will be in May where I’m hoping to beat my pb of 1hr3mins3ecs and get it done in under 60 minutes.
SET YOUR GOALS AND SET THEM HIGH!
I’ve learned so much on this journey that I want to share with you all the things that helped get me here, from Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle, Tom’s articles on his blog, Craig Ballantyne’s Turbulence Training program and the support on the TT forum, to simple things like goal setting and calorie counting. I want you to know that anything is possible, dream big, have huge scary goals, have a plan, and you will succeed. Remember, I was not the fit kid at school, I hated P.E. and I’m addicted to junk food, but I have a burning desire to have a six pack, that is my number one goal, and as I start a new Transformation Contest in the Turbulence Training 10th Contest, I hope you will keep up with me as I post a weekly digest on my training efforts/food summary/obstacles and challenges! Remember, the Diet is DEAD this is a LIFESTYLE!
THE BLUEPRINT FOR SUCCESS
If I can summarize my success I would put it down to these factors:
Count calories No matter what any one says, I firmly believe that calories are KING. There are first and foremost the single biggest factor in your success. If you are eating too many you will put on weight, if you create a defecit you will lose weight. It’s as simple as that.
Have goals The bigger the better, don’t doubt you won’t achieve them, just make sure the thought of it scares you a little! Write them down, read them daily, have them on your fridge, know them off by heart.
Create a plan Your plan needs to revolve around nutrition and exercise. I highly recommend Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle (nutrition) and Turbulence Training (exercise). You may follow any plan you like, just make sure you have one!
Visualize Have a clear image of you in your head of how your new body will look. If you can print off images with your head pasted on and have them on your fridge/in your purse/next to your computer, on your phone. You get the idea.
Finally, be CONSISTENT. Be consistent, be consistent, be consistent. If you are consistent over time you will succeed and develop good habits for life.
