			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>18 weeks today and I&#8217;ll be on holiday, off to Port Aventura and I&#8217;m determined to look hot in a bikini once again.  Here are my goals for the next 18 weeks!</p>

<p>Goal 1. &#8211; Eat clean for a whole month</p>
<p>February &#8211; Eat clean for the whole month. Actually starting this on Monday 30th January til end of February. I need to de junk<br />
my system and this seems the best way to do it. This means no treats, no processed food at all, with the exception of my<br />
protein shake nothing will be coming from a factory. I&#8217;m hoping this will have a big impact on the appearance of my butt/thigh<br />
region on back of legs.</p>
<p>Goal 2. &#8211; Once a week weigh in</p>
<p>Weigh myself once a week only along with tape measurements, nothing worse than not seeing the number you want on the<br />
scale yet you know you look better in the mirror. Too much attachment to the scale. So weighing in once a week only -<br />
measurements and pics to follow (probz tomorrow now)</p>
<p>Goal 3. &#8211; Perform 3 TT workouts per week plus 2 HIIT sessions per week. 1 shoulder routine workout added on to 3rd TT<br />
workout which takes place on a Saturday on a high calorie day.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ll start TT Big 6 on Monday (finishing up one of the 24/7 Fatloss workouts this week &#8211; think it was intermediate)</p>
<p>Shoulder routine is:</p>
<p>DB Over head press x 10<br />
DB Side laterals x 10<br />
Plate front raise x 10<br />
Upright rows x 10<br />
Rest 2 mins, repeat 3 times.</p>
<p>Goal 4. &#8211; Run 5K in March in under 30 mins</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve signed up for a wee 5K which is on Sunday 11th March, my pb for a 10K is 1hour 3mins so my aim is sub 30 mins, would<br />
be chuffed with 25.</p>
<p>Goal 5. &#8211; Post my nutrition daily to MyFitnessPal.</p>
<p>Calories will range from 1350 on low day, to 2000 on refeed day (Saturday). Eat min 1g protein per lb body weight.</p>
<p>Goal 6. &#8211; Post workouts and nutrition summary on here every day.</p>
<p>Monday, Wednesday &amp; Saturday are weights, HIIT either added on at end of weights or Tue/Thurs. Friday and Sunday are rest<br />
days.</p>
<p>Goal 7. &#8211; Get to 15% body fat in 18 weeks &#8211; lose 1.5&#8243; from waist, 3&#8243; from hips, 3&#8243;+ from butt.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>OK, the post you have all been waiting for!  My before and after pics!  I lost 10.75lbs of pure fat in 12 weeks, and 2 1/2 inches off my butt!  My six pack is closer than ever, and over the course of the next 18 weeks I&#8217;m adopting a higher calorie intake on training days in order put on some muscle, and on non training days a slightly negative calorie intake to stay as lean as possible at the same time!  My goal = to step on stage at <a title="Musclemania &amp; Fitness Britain" href="http://musclemania.com/" target="_blank">Musclemania / Fitness Britain</a> on the 31st July!  I&#8217;m not sure yet what category/ies I&#8217;m entering, but I can not wait!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>My 8 year old daughter, Holly, made this most amazing soup at kids club yesterday. I&#8217;ll let you know in advance, if you blend it, it won&#8217;t look the greatest soup ever, but I can assure you, once it passes your lips you&#8217;ll not want to stop eating it til you are bursting full! Put some extra chilli in for a full on fat burning soup! Enjoy <img src='http://bodybybetty.co.uk/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p><strong>Sweet Potato &amp; Chilli Soup</strong></p>
<p>1 tsp olive oil<br />
1 onion roughly chopped<br />
1 red chilli, finely chopped or a pinch of chilli flakes<br />
1 tsp ground coriander<br />
2 garlic cloves crushed<br />
750g sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks<br />
vegetable stock fresh, cube or concentrate made up to 500ml</p>
<p>Heat the olive oil in a large pan, add the onion, chilli, coriander and garlic. Cook for about 8 minutes until softened. Add the sweet potato and cook for a few more minutes. Add the stock, bring to the boil then simmer for about 10 minutes until the veg is soft.</p>
<p>Mash, or blend if you want a smooth soup. Season, serve, enjoy! Go back for more!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Wow that&#8217;s another 2 weeks out the way, and only 2 to go!! Then next time I update my blog, it will be with pictures, and my Turbulence Training contest entry! For my last week I&#8217;m thinking of tweeting absolutely everything I eat, drink and do, simply because it&#8217;s an easy way for me to track &#8220;contest prep&#8221; and share it with others later in a blog post. <p>If you stopped me on the street to ask me what my number one fat loss tip for this year is, there are a hundred different directions I could lead you. Of course, there is one strategy that stands out among the others, and in almost all cases, this would be the first thing I suggest. This is the one absolute requirement for weight loss, and it’s something you’ve probably heard of before. However, there’s one critical distinction about this familiar advice that you might not have considered &#8211; and this one thing makes all the difference in the world…</p>
<p>Let me quote Melvin Williams, PhD, professor emeritus of exercise science at Old Dominion University and author of the textbook Nutrition for Health, Fitness and Sport (McGraw Hill):</p>
<p>“Human energy systems are governed by the same laws of physics that rule all energy transformations. No substantial evidence is available to disprove the caloric theory. It is still the physical basis for bodyweight control.”</p>
<p>There are a variety of diet programs and weight loss “gurus” who claim that calories don’t count. They insist that if you eat certain foods or avoid certain foods, that’s all you have to do to lose weight. Dozens, maybe hundreds of such diets exist, with certain “magic foods” put up on a pedestal or certain “evil fat-storing foods&#8221; banished into the forbidden foods zone.</p>
<p>Other weight loss “experts” invoke the insulin/carbohydrate hypothesis which claims that carbs drive insulin which drives body fat. That’s akin to saying “Carbs are the reason for the obesity crisis today, not excess calories.”</p>
<p>They are all mistaken.</p>
<p>Of course, there IS more to nutrition than calories. Food quality and nutrition content matters for good health. In addition, your food choices can affect your energy intake. We could even point the finger at an excess of refined starches and grains, sugar and soft drinks (carbs!) as major contributing factors to the surplus calories that lead to obesity.</p>
<p>However, that brings us back to excess calories as the pivotal point in the chain of causation, not carbs. A caloric deficit is a required condition for weight loss &#8211; even if you opt for the low carb approach &#8211; and that’s where your focus should go – on the deficit.</p>
<p>Now, here’s that critical distinction…</p>
<p>You’ve heard it said, “exercise more and eat less” a million times. However, saying “focus on the deficit” is NOT the same thing. If you don’t understand the difference, you could end up spinning your wheels for years.</p>
<p>You could exercise more, but if you compensate by eating more, you cancel your deficit.</p>
<p>You could eat less, but if you compensate by moving less, again you cancel your deficit.</p>
<p>This type of compensation can happen unconsciously, which leads to confusion about why you’re not losing weight or why you’re gaining. That often leads you to make excuses or blame the wrong thing… anything but the calories.</p>
<p>Therefore, “focus on the deficit” more accurately states the most important key to weight loss than “exercise more and eat less.” Make sure you understand this distinction and then follow this advice.</p>
<p>Last but not least, keep in mind that there are a lot of ways to establish a deficit and many of those ways are really dumb. Eating nothing but grapefruits, cabbage, twinkies… but in a deficit?… Dumb!</p>
<p>A calorie deficit is required for fat loss, but once your deficit is established, the composition of your hypo-caloric diet DOES matter. That’s why any good fat loss program starts with calories but doesn’t stop there &#8211; you also need to look at protein, essential fats, macronutrients, micronutrients, food quality and how the diet you choose fits into your lifestyle.</p>
<p>Don’t let the simplicity of this idea fool you. This is the #1 key to your successful weight loss this year, and every year: Focus on the deficit!</p>
